Brooklyn Childbirth Classes

At Carriage House, we have culled our shared birth and postpartum experiences and training to develop a strong, interesting and fun classroom experience. We believe that it is best to fill your perinatal tool bag with as many options as possible, therefore we teach what is most useful and use what we feel are the best elements from the various laboring and healing methods that are out there today. Whether at home, in a hospital, or a birth center, we believe that good outcomes happen when fear is replaced by confidence and understanding of the gestational body and the very normal experience that is pregnancy, childbirth and the early postpartum period.

Lactation Support

Just because it's natural doesn't mean it's easy.

Lactation support looks different for every parent and baby. Join us the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month at Grand Street Healing Project with LaShanda Dandrich, IBCLC for our lactation support group. LaShanda provides non-judgmental support and helps guide you along your feeding journey to achieve your feeding goal. During the group, your concerns about pain with latching, milk transfer, supplementing, and milk supply are all addressed and a sustainable plan and referrals are provided. Whether you are just starting out,  weaning, or anywhere in between, come by for guidance and support by an IBCLC to meet you where you are as well as connect with other parents in the community.

Newborn Care

Join us as we demystify caring for your newest family member.

This signature Carriage House Birth workshop, hosted by LaShanda Dandrich, a NYC based IBCLC, Postpartum Doula, and parent, will offer you tools to support the creation of realistic parenting goals and tried and true care for your newborn in the first weeks.

Besides basic newborn care we will discuss what your newborn will be like, what to expect in their development, feeding and sleep patterns, nursery set up, baby gear, and more.

$225 per family unit

This class is offered the first Monday of every month from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Babies welcome.

PMAD'S (Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders) Support Group

A space space for parents to gather and move through the big postpartum feels.

PMADS are the most common complication of birth with an average of one in eight parents experiencing symptoms. These feelings and emotions can often be overwhelming, scary, upsetting, and at odd with the ways we think we should feel. They are also out of your control. In this group we connect to share experiences in an open and supportive space and not feel so alone. This group is open to any birthing person who is experiencing or who has experienced Perinatal Mood and Anxiety symptoms. Babies are welcome.
