Homebirth: Fit for a Duchess? Our new virtual workshop specifically focuses on home birth for doulas
The Duchess of Sussex, American born Princess Meghan Markle, is set on following in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth and is aiming for having a midwife-led home birth when she delivers later this month. The Royal Family has a long history of women giving birth successfully at home and Markle, age 37, who is expecting her first child with Prince Harry, has openly objected to the idea of standing on the steps of a maternity unit surrounded by the public and the media just hours after birth. The Queen was born at the home of her grandparents and gave birth to each of her four children at either Buckingham Palace or Clarence House.
Have you supported a family through a home birth? Have you done so in the past but need a refresher? Have you considered it but aren't feeling fully confident?
Let us help demystify and support you with this amazing new workshop offering available virtually to doulas anywhere in the world!
Why? Supporting a birthing person in a homebirth setting looks and feels very different than supporting a client in a hospital or birthing center. This workshop will help you to be effective and supportive as a birth doula in a home birth setting.
Topics covered include:
*Home birth Culture
*Your role in creating and protecting the labor space
*Working with homebirth midwives
*Doula responsibilities
*Transfers
*Precipitous labor
*Doula bag
*Home birth kit
*The Early Postpartum
